To the Red, White, and Blue

Ingredients:

Bottom layer:

1 ½ oz Aquavit (Long Road Distillers)

½ oz Raspberry Crescendo Syrup

4-5 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

Middle layer:

Lavender Lemonade (RTD, Long Road)

7%ABV - chilled

Top Layer:

Sovereign Gin (Long Road)

Lemon wheel for garnish.

**Firm ice that won’t melt quickly with a pour is important in this cocktail. If ice melts and mixes ingredients while pouring layers, the cocktail won’t form as expected.

 

Directions:

Bottom Layer

Fill collins or highball glass with ice to the top.

In a shaking tin, add bottom layer ingredients and shake until combined with 1-2 ice cubes for about 8 seconds.

Pour down the side of the glass slowly until it fills the bottom portion of glass.


Middle Layer

Insert a stirring spoon into your glass and pour the RTD lavender lemonade slowly down swizzle part of spoon until only about 2 inches remain at the top of the glass. Go slowly. This helps create the layer.

Top Layer

Turn spoon on back so rounded portion faces up, above top of ice, and slowly pour (float) Sovereign Gin over the top. This creates the top layer.

Garnish:

Insert a straw (to mix with once served) and garnish with a lemon wheel. Serve layered, mix thoroughly before enjoying.
